چکیده
Background. To assess fasting C-peptide and insulin indices using homeostatic model assessment (HOMA) in gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). Methods. Gestational (n = 64, age: 27.02 ± 0.53 years, BMI: 26.3 0.5 kg/m2; mean SEM) normal glucose tolerance NGT 56, 26.11 0.55 24.4 0.4 screened according to WHO 2013 criteria. Glucose was measured by oxidase method whereas ELISA. HOMA-IR, HOMA-B HOMA-%S were calculated. Results. found higher GDM compared without any significant difference (P 0.465). Fasting 0.063) HOMA-IR < 0.001) significantly while 0.015) 0.012) lower than those of NGT. BMI, bad obstetric history, multiparity blood ≤ 0.05) age, duration gestation, family history DM did not differ NS). (0.185 0.06 vs 0.331 0.44; P 0.05), (4.88 0.74 10.37 0.74; 0.01) (1.04 0.14 2.48 0.18; 0.011) as well having BMI 23 kg/m2 with ≥ 23. Conversely, (115.52 14.63 50.62 3.39; the subgroup rest. (FBG) independent predictors for GDM. Conclusions. between positively related resistance secretion but inversely sensitivity. HOMA analyses revealed decreased sensitivity secretory capacity

Insulin secretion and insulin resistance in Korean women with gestational diabetes mellitus and impaired glucose tolerance
BACKGROUND/AIMS The aim was to compare the insulin sensitivity and secretion index of pregnant Korean women with normal glucose tolerance (NGT), gestational impaired glucose tolerance (GIGT; only one abnormal value according to the Carpenter and Coustan criteria), and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). METHODS A cross-sectional study was performed with 1,163 pregnant women with positive (1-...
متن کاملEffect of body mass index on insulin secretion or sensitivity and diabetes.
BACKGROUND Although the association between obesity and diabetes is well known, the factors predisposing to diabetes in non-obese Asians are less clearly characterized. PURPOSE To investigate the effects of impaired insulin secretion (IIS) and insulin resistance (IR) according to BMI on the incidence of diabetes in the Saku Study. METHODS This 4-year cohort study involved 3,083 participants...
متن کاملRelationship between body mass index and gestational diabetes mellitus
Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is one of the most common medical complications in pregnancy, which is associated with many serious consequences for mother and her fetus. Body mass index (BMI) in pregnant women is considered as one of most effective factor for the incidence of GDM. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between BMI at pregnant women in the early...

The Relationship between Antioxidants Consumption and Insulin Resistance/Insulin Sensitivity in Type 2 Diabetes without and with Coronary Stenosis: A Case-Control Study
Background: Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is known as a common chronic metabolic disease worldwide. Coronary artery diseases are one of the hazardous disorders in diabetic patients. The current study aimed to investigate the relationship between dietary antioxidants intake with insulin resistance and insulin sensitivity among T2D without and with coronary stenosis (CS). Methods: This case-control study...
